About us
Adelaide Nursery is a specialist grower in Adelaide's north-east. We grow advanced trees and screening plants here and deliver them straight into gardens across this city — no interstate freight, no month in a distribution centre, no plants that have never met our soil.
Why buying from a grower is different
The advantage is not sentiment, it is information. We can tell you what a plant does in this soil, in this heat, because we watch them do it season after season. A national chain sells the same lilly pilly in Adelaide and Brisbane with the same label on it, and one of those two cities is going to be disappointed.
It also means you are talking to the people who grew the plant. Ask us how far apart to put them, how tall they will really get, or whether the spot you have in mind is a mistake, and you will get a straight answer rather than a care tag.
What we grow, and why those plants
Almost everything here is chosen for one reason: it holds up in Adelaide. That means alkaline soil, summers over 40 degrees, water restrictions, and a gardener who has a life. Pittosporum and pencil pine because they take our soil and barely need watering once they are away. Crepe myrtle because it flowers through the worst of the heat. Japanese box rather than English box because it handles the sun.
Where a plant is harder work than it looks, the listing says so. The pencil pine that cannot be cut back. The ficus standards that belong in a pot rather than near your pipes. The magnolias that drop leaves into a pool all year. You will find that written on the page rather than discovered in three years.
Advanced stock, not seedlings
Most of what we sell is advanced — bigger than a tube stock plant and years further along. If you are screening a neighbour or planting a driveway, starting at 200mm or 250mm rather than a seedling puts you years ahead, and it is the difference between a hedge you can see and a row of sticks you have to explain to visitors.

Message us with a photo of the spot and the measurements, and we will come back with what to plant and how many you need. We would rather talk you out of the wrong plant than sell it to you.
