Snow Pear. 250mm pot

The silver pear. Soft grey-green felted leaves that glow in the sun, a cloud of white blossom in spring, and a neat rounded canopy that gives real shade without getting out of hand. One of the most popular small trees in Adelaide, and one of the toughest.

Why you'll love it

• Silver foliage — a colour almost nothing else in the garden gives you.
• Spring blossom — masses of white flowers on bare wood.
• Water-wise — drought tolerant once established.
• Tough — alkaline soil and frost are both fine.
• The right size — a small shade tree that suits a suburban block.

Best for

• A feature tree in a front garden
• Light shade over a seating area
• Avenues and verges
• Courtyard gardens
